Canterbury Water Polo Head Coach
The Canterbury Water Polo Board established in 1892, the biggest and longest standing water polo association in the South Island of New Zealand, is looking for a Water Polo Head Coach on a fixed term contract.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to Coach at a national level whilst fulfilling coaching duties for players aged 10years through to senior men and women. The position is to commence as soon as possible.

Requirements for the role (must have):
- Excellent Verbal Communication Skills
- Full, Clean Driver’s Licence
- You must be 20 years or older
- Have a current/valid passport (until 2022)
- No criminal convictions
- The ability to plan and implement water polo trainings on a daily basis
- Be prepared to travel within New Zealand on a regular basis
Desired:
- Coaching and/or Physical Education Teaching Qualification
- Extensive experience in playing and coaching water polo
- The ability to work well with volunteers

Job Description
Overview:
The Canterbury Water Polo Head Coach will be responsible for running all age group trainings during the 2020-2021 season.
The Head Coach will be required to report to the Development Officer and the Canterbury Water Polo Board.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Actively run all water polo age group sessions during the 2020/2021 season with the likelihood of continuing on to 2021/2022 season
- Work collaboratively with Canterbury Water Polo’s coaches and assist them with planning training sessions when applicable.
- Wear CWP Coach Polo Shirt while on poolside at all times
- Take attendance at all sessions
- Attend home and away tournaments when team is playing.
Knowledge and Skills:
- International and/or national water polo background/experience playing and/or coaching is preferred
- Confident with strong communication skills, to interact openly and honestly with players, parents and the Canterbury Water Polo Board
- Able to deliver trainings in an enthusiastic manner
- Must be reliable, prompt, flexible and show a commitment to the programme
Estimated Time Commitment
The successful applicant will be required to be on poolside for approximately 30 hours per week (excluding public holidays) during the season and school terms.
The successful applicant will be required to undergo Police Vetting and they must have the right to work in New Zealand.
Remuneration
Remuneration is dependent on current experience and qualifications.
